  1. 1

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the white sugar and unsalted butter until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

  2. 2

Add the large eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition until the batter is uniform in texture.

  3. 3

Stir in the all-purpose flour, milk, vanilla extract, and butter flavoring (if using). Mix everything together until you have a smooth, lump-free batter.

  4. 4

Preheat your krumkake iron over a medium heat on the stove. Lightly grease both plates with a bit of butter or cooking spray.

  5. 5

Pour about one tablespoon of batter onto the center of the preheated iron. Close the iron gently, pressing just enough to spread the batter evenly. Cook for about 30 seconds, or until the cookie is golden brown on one side.

  6. 6

Carefully flip the iron and cook the other side for another 15-30 seconds until golden. Remove the hot krumkake and immediately roll it around the handle of a wooden spoon to form a cone shape. Work quickly as it hardens as it cools.

  7. 7

Repeat the process with the remaining batter, making sure to re-grease the iron as needed between batches.

  8. 8

Let the krumkake cool completely on a wire rack. Store the cooled cookies in an airtight container to keep them crisp.
